Eight years of planning were necessary before construction of the University Clinic 2000, the largest project in the Federal State of Thuringia, could begin in 1999. The implementation was carried out using the so-called Thuringia model: design, construction and financing in one hand. The ambitious original space programme demanded an useful area of 130,000 qm with an investment volume of more than 500 million Euro.
